SCALD

MACy rodman

For Macy Rodman’s fourth album, we called upon the femme fatales of 90s and 2000s erotic thrillers. Stockinged legs on DVD cases and sinisterly seductive half smiles meld with paperback pulp revival covers by the likes of Christopher Pike to create a world at once immediately familiar and unplaceable. Like the scent of the woman leading you to your demise, alluring and intangible. Macy seamlessly slips into the role of cat and mouse, seductress and seduced. Running through locations, green screens, tropes and self imposed threats, she becomes SCALD pursed by SCALD starring in SCALD by SCALD. A sensual escapist fantasy in response to the terrors of a melting world gone abjectly digital, increasingly less touchable and human. How can one pursue prey if one cannot hear, feel or sense their heartbeat?…

Working closely with artist and illustrator Drake Carr, the album packaging smashes together the spirits of book covers, DVDs, film posters, theatre lobby film still cards and all the other ephemera consumer driven art media threw unto us so willingly, so generously, once upon a time to bring SCALD to almost celluloid life. She’s so lifelike, so real, you can almost touch her… CUT! Print.
